Kyiv StratCom Forum

“We need to understand that information wars never end,” Ihor Solovei

“Countering disinformation is not only about refuting fakes, it is also to a large extent the dissemination of correct, reliable, timely information that is part of effective strategic communications.

Our Centre believes in the power of synergy, the power of sharing experience, opinions, and vision between different specialists, including those from different countries. The experience of each of our foreign friends is extremely useful and unique. That is why we launched Kyiv Stratcom Forum, and we are glad to see that every year, it gathers more and more reputable speakers from different parts of our country and the world.”

Kyiv StratCom Forum is a two-day event with panel discussions aimed at sharing and improving approaches to strategic communications and building resilience to disinformation at the national level in Ukraine and NATO partner countries in Eastern Europe.

Today, Ukrainian specialists have the most extensive experience in combating disinformation and overcoming the threats associated with hybrid warfare. Through such events, we are able to share this experience and spread our knowledge. The event was first organized by the Centre for Strategic Communication in 2021.

Kyiv StratCom Forum is a platform that brings together leading experts, including foreign guests, representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and civil society organizations, who together with the Centre consider and study the effective ways of cooperation between the state and civil society to ensure a consolidated response of the whole society to disinformation.

The speakers of the forum include senior officials, as well as leading experts in the fields of communications, cybersecurity, and the fight against disinformation, such as:

  1. Peter Pomerantsev: British journalist, TV producer, and writer
  2. Dasha Zarivna: Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine
  3. Roman Tsymbaliuk: Ukrainian journalist, UNIAN correspondent in Russia
  4. Mykhailo Podoliak: Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine

“Our forum is primarily about combining experiences and approaches. This is a discussion platform where each of the guests can share their visions and approaches. We hope that the participants and guests of Kyiv Stratcom Forum will be more prepared to counter hybrid threats after visiting it. We still have many months of the fight ahead of us, but we have a great chance to build a powerful counteraction system that will destroy hostile intentions at the initial level,” believes Mykola Balaban, Deputy Head of the Centre for Strategic Communication.
