A new Russian disinformation campaign is currently underway across the X platform, with Russians having launched a new viral fake for US audiences.

In a video being widely promoted by Russia’s troll farms, bot networks and paid influencers, “Ukrainian soldiers” shoot a mannequin wearing a hat bearing the “MAGA” political slogan.

The video circulating on social media platform X, showing unidentified men in Ukrainian Armed Forces uniforms has already been viewed millions of times.

The disinformation narratives accompanying the video are the old standards that seek to diminish support for Ukraine among western audiences:

  • Zelenskyy is a “terrorist” and a “globalist”
  • The Armed Forces are “anti-white racists”
  • Assistance to Ukraine should be stopped so that Russia can “liberate it”

This staged video is an anti-Ukrainian provocation designed to provoke anger among Donald Trump’s supporters in the United States and other countries.

According to available indications, this is an information campaign by Russian special services aimed at spoiling relations between Ukraine and the United States after the election.
