Description of the fake LIE

Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries, so the European Union is not ready to accept it. This is what the Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán said.

Refutation TRUTH

In 2023, Ukraine increased its score in the Corruption Perceptions Index; we are currently ranked 116th out of 180 countries, and this is far from the worst indicator. The European Union itself noted progress in the fight against corruption in Ukraine.

Hungary, on the other hand, has lost 13 points over the past 10 years; the human rights organization Transparency International attributes this to restrictions on the independence of the judiciary, the media, and civil society bodies.

Moreover, despite Orbán’s statement, on November 8, the European Commission recommended that the European Council open negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Orbán only continues to play into the hands of the Kremlin with such manipulative anti-Ukrainian statements.
