Description of the fake LIE

Ukraine owes the European Union USD 700 bln. This information is spread on TikTok along with a snippet from an interview with President Zelenskyy, where he talks about debts for the war.

Refutation TRUTH

As of September 30, 2023, the state and state-guaranteed debt is USD 133.6 bln, of which USD 26.47 bln is the debt to the European Union, VoxCheck journalists noted.

Most likely, the figure of USD 700 bln was taken from the news story about the debt of the Government of Ukraine to the National Bank.

The National Bank is the largest creditor of the country, but the government owes it UAH 700 bln, not USD.
