Description of the fake LIE
The family of Defence Minister Rustem Umerov are U.S. citizens. This is reported by the media with reference to Umerov’s declaration.
Refutation TRUTH
The Minister’s children (a 10-year-old son and two daughters of 8 and 2 years) received Ukrainian passports at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States. That is why the United States is indicated as the place of issuance of documents in the declaration.
However, the citizenship of Umerov’s family is Ukrainian, the Ministry of Defence stressed.
In 2016, the minister’s family was forced to go abroad due to attempts and threats as a result of Umerov’s systematic activities to de-occupy the temporarily occupied Crimea.
