Description of the fake LIE
A huge number of French mercenaries fighting for Ukraine were killed during the shelling of a hotel in Kharkiv. “Lists of the dead” are published by pro-Russian propagandists on social networks.
Refutation TRUTH
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, on January 10, 13 people were injured as a result of the shelling of the Park Hotel.
Representatives of foreign delegations, journalists, documentary filmmakers often stayed in this hotel. There were no military personnel among the guests at the time of the strike.
Furthermore, the fact-checkers of the Behind the News project found out that the names of the “dead” were part of the list that Russian propagandists had published back in April 2022 as a list of “foreign mercenaries in Ukraine as of 2021.”
