Kremlin propaganda found a loophole in Google

Navigation and useful materials

Android users may see disinformation in their news feed.

The widely used Android service Discover, which is a feed of content in the Chrome browser, continues to promote disinformation among Russian audiences, according to Bloomberg.

Thus, the Discover feed regularly contains links to the Tsargrad TV news site, which distorts the facts and spreads disinformation. For example, it accuses the Armed Forces of shelling civilians (accusing Ukraine of a missile strike on the village of Hroza is among the recent fakes).

The publication, which is run by a Kremlin supporter Konstantin Malofeev, received more than 200,000 hits to its page every day in September this year.

In addition, Discover regularly posts links to other pro-Kremlin media, such as Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to a source at Google, Discover generates much less revenue than Google Search, so it also has a smaller budget to prevent abuse.
